Description
These are the Japanese blocks (which are actually made in Vietnam, according to the label) that have become popular recently. Both of these blocks are made of a lower density material, so would be desirable for those who prefer a softer carving experience or who have less strength in their hands.
The blocks are about twice as thick as Speedy Carve or Tan-Z Kut. It looks as if I will be able to fit six of these into a flat rate envelope. I haven’t had a chance to sit down and carve any of this material yet, so I can’t give it a comparison to any other blocks I’ve used, but I will try to do that in the future. 🙂
The beige one is the firmer of these two Japanese blocks . It has a beige top layer and a white base layer.
The yellow one is softer and, from what I hear, is a lot like the old Staedtler MarsCarve. It has a yellow top and white base layer.
